How does the LawnBott SpyderEVO LB1500 compare to the LawnBott Professional LB2150? Below is an excellent comparison of these two robotic lawn mowers.
First, it is important to know that where you purchase your robotic lawn mower can greatly effect your satisfaction level. If you run into a problem or just need some quick advice, having a knowledgeable dealer is a must. The SpyderEVO, like the LB2150 uses perimeter wire, so it is best to have an installation plan before installing it.
The following information will help you determine if it is worth paying $600 - $800 more for the LawnBott LB2150:
Here are the similarities between these two LawnBott robotic lawn mowers:
- Both lawn mowers use perimeter wire (e.g. LB1500 comes with 330 feet of wire while LB2150 comes with 500 feet of wire)
- Both lawn mowers use lithium battery technology
- Both lawn mowers can handle slopes up to 27 degrees right out of the box
LawnBott SpyderEVO LB1500 robot lawn mower advantages are:
- Cost less
- Invisible Dog Fence compatibility
- Can mow up to 2.8 inches high
- Touch sensitive handles for added safety
- Optional docking station (Self-docking base is a $200 accessory)
- Simple operation — just two buttons (but no LCD)
- Looks better (our opinion)
LawnBott LB2150 robotic lawn mower advantages are:
- Out of the box, it is fully automatic — self mow and self docking once installed (dock included)
- Come with a rain sensor
- Has a 12 inches cutting path (2 inches wider than LB1500)
- Can automatically mow twice a day on a schedule that you set
- Can manage up to 3 zones - LB2150 will independently travel to each area and back without your help once setup (front, back and side yard, etc.)
- LCD interface allows you to view your settings
- Can mow a larger lawn (more than twice the coverage of the LB1500)
- More powerful blade motor
- Will complete mowing your lawn quicker than the SpyderEVO, because of wider cutting path, faster movement and smart spiral mode
- Ability to add a remote and an alarm for additional cost
- Option to add an extra battery, but be aware that this will not increase your automated run times
LawnBott SpyderEVO LB1500 robot lawn mower disadvantages are:
- No rain sensor
- Not quite as smart as the LB2150
- One mowing zone (you may have to start it in different sections of your lawn...front yard, back yard and side yard, etc.)
- No smart spiral mode
- Requires placing in the yard and recharging manually (unless you purchase the dock)
- Docking station is not a standard feature. Optional docking station adds cost and does not offer the same zone control as the LB2150 (i.e. still require manually starting the mower in sections of your lawn; however, it will self dock)
- Errors can be tricky to diagnose with no LCD screen
- Limited upgrade options outside of the docking station
LawnBott LB2150 robot lawn mower disadvantages are:
- Cost more
- Does not look as nice as the SpyderEVO
So what do we think? If your budget allows, the LawnBott LB2150 is a clear winner. If you were to compare the SpyderEVO with dock to the LB2150, the price is only $600 more for a far more capable robot. However, that is not to say that the SpyderEVO is not a great choice. The SpyderEVO bridges the gap between the LB1200 and the LB2150. Compared to other robotic mowers at this price range but with LawnBott's quality, the SpyderEVO tops them. Also compared to riding lawn mowers, higher end push mowers and lawn services, the SpyderEVO is a definite no-brainer.
