You possibly have heard of robotic lawn mowers by now. Over 80,000 LawnBotts are in use on home lawns across the globe not including the other brands on the market.
Most robotic lawn mowers mow inside of a signal field that is emitted from a perimeter wire surrounding the area to be mowed. This one time installation of the perimeter wire will take at least 3 hours for the average home owner to complete which happens to be just enough deterrent from buying one in the first place.
The LawnBott LB1200 Spyder changes that. With no installation required, just drop it in the yard and it mows! This new technology relies on sensors that literally feel your grass. Six sensors hang below the level of the blade and feel grass as the lawn mower moves forward and backwards. When it senses living grass, it mows. If it senses dead grass (non-living matter) or no grass it stops and goes to another direction.
In addition to grass sensors, obstacle detection works completely different than other robotic lawn mowers currently on the market. Rather than rely on bump switches underneath the shell, rubber bumpers or infrared sensors, the LawnBott Spyder LB1200 can detect tension or stress from the wheels. For example, if the mower bumps a tree, in a split second the computer will acknowledge that the wheels are not moving or are under stress and will reverse.
The drawback of the LawnBott Spyder is that it can only handle up to 5,500 sq ft of yard which is a fraction of what the other LawnBott robotic lawn mowers can mow. Also, it has to be carried outside to mow while the other LawnBott models are fully automatic; that is: self charging and self mowing on a schedule you set or it can set a schedule automatically.
The LawnBott Spyder, a rechargeable electric lawn mower robot, is equipped with a lithium battery and can mow over 5 hours on a single charge. Recharge time is only 2 to 3 hours. It is also a 4 wheel drive lawn mower which can help it navigate all types of terrains and lawns with slopes up to 27 degrees.
The LawnBott Spyder retails for around $1,400.
